This guide shows you how to build and edit Knowledge Maps at subjects.kmaps.virginia.edu and places.kmaps.virginia.edu. These sites let you edit and build dynamic label trees without advanced programming knowledge. You can then use these KMap labels to catalog content within the Mandala tools.

If you want to just view Knowledge Maps, or connect existing Knowledge Maps to content in Mandala, check out our guide to Knowledge Maps for general use

Supplemental Documentation

If you don't see answers to your questions in these guides, you can check out the THL Place Dictionary Editor's Manual. This resource addresses Places in great detail, and includes recommendations for creating places and filling out metadata fields.

Bear in mind, however, that this document is intended for scholars in the Tibetan Himalayan Library. Some information may not apply to general users, or may be out-of-date. This is just a stand-in resource while we update the Knowledge Base.
