This guide shows you how to build and edit Knowledge Maps at subjects.kmaps.virginia.edu and places.kmaps.virginia.edu. These sites let you edit and build dynamic label trees without advanced programming knowledge. You can then use these KMap labels to catalog content within the Mandala tools.

- Get Editorial Permissions — To get editorial permissions, you should contact mandala@virginia.edu mailto:mandala@virginia.edu to discuss your project.
- Building Knowledge Maps — Knowledge Maps let you build semantic fields or ontologies of terms, which you can then use to label resources you create in Mandala. At the most basic level, Knowledge Maps are terms or tags in a hierarchy. This places a term in the appropriate context.
