Data Format 

Each row represents a point on your motion chart. Points can represent several dimensions of data, including time. The third column and any subsequent columns (optional) can be either a number or plain text. Learn more about spreadsheets in Visuals at Use Spreadsheet Data

The category of the point

Note:

  • For example, "Alabama" or "Texas"

The time value for the point. Time can be in any of the data types above.

Note:

  • If the time is a year (for example, 2010): choose 'number'
  • If the time is a week number (in YYYYWww format) or a quarter (in YYYYQq format): choose 'plain text'
  • If the time is a month, day, or year: choose 'date'

 

The numeric value for a point.

Note:

  • These number columns will create values on the x and y axes.

The color category for the point.

Note:

  • Plain text columns create data categories in the legend
