Polarized target Operators are trained to run the target system and take shifts around the clock to monitor the microwave system, the NMR and cryogenics to maintain that greatest polarization at all times. The degree of polarization of the target have a heavy impact on the over all figure of merit of the Drell-Yan experiment, so these shifts operators must understand what is expected.
