If you want to browse the Places collection without typing a search, follow the instructions below.

1. Go to mandala.shanti.virginia.edu/places
2. Click the search icon

   • This icon is a magnifying glass in the top right of the pageFind this button below the main menu

   • The search

     menu

     window will

     unfold
3. To view the search results in a hierarchy, click the Tree tab
   
   1. Click Earth to expand the hierarchy
      • Note that Earth is the highest level in the hierarchy
   2. Click + to expand a search result
   3. Click - to collapse a search result
4. To view the search results in a list format, click the List tab
   
   1. Click the scroll bar buttons to browse the results
      • Find these buttons above the list

5. • expand

   • The "Results" tab will be selected automatically

6. Click the Browse Places tab
   • Note that "Earth" will be expanded automatically; if it's not, click the + sign next to "Earth"

   • A hierarchy of place names will appear

7. Click the + and - signs to expand and collapse place names
8. Hover over a place name to quickly see its Knowledge Map

   • A pop-over window will appear showing the place's related media

9. Click a place name from the results
   

   • The node page for the place

   Click on a search result
   • The Knowledge Map Overview page

     will appear
