Before you add sections or pages to a text, create a main page. Learn more with the Texts' Structure guide.

- Find the section page of text for which you want to create a childthat needs a section
- Click
- Note: click on the section title in "Contents" to navigate to that section
- Note: see the glossary definition of Child Node

- Click the + button next to the page title in the table of contents
- You'll see the table of contents next to the text
- This plus sign is located under the section title
The "Create Book page" window will open
- Type the new section's title in into the "Title" field
- Click SHANTI Texts Splitter
The section will expand
- Choose whether you want to split your text into sections
- Type the new section's content in into the "Content" box
- To add metadata to the section, click Metadata: scroll down
- Typically, only use metadata for the main page
- Note: typically metadata should only be used for the root node of a text
The "Metadata" page will open
- Add authors, publication years, descriptions, and search terms if necessary
- Click Book outline
- Book outline is located on the left sidebar
The "Book outline" page will open
- Verify "Book" and "Parent item"
- "Book" should be the title of the text to which the new section belongs
- "Parent item" should be the section you chose in step 2

- Click on the "Weight" drop-down menu
"Weight" options will expand
- Choose the importance of your section relative to sibling sections
- Note: sections with higher weights will be listed first
- Note: see the glossary definition of Sibling Node

- Click Preview at the bottom of the page to review your section
The "Preview" page will open
- Click Save text section at the bottom of the page
A message will confirm your new section
The window will close
Your section will be added to the parent page
