When you access SlicerDicer (SD) in EPIC Hyperspace, you will first encounter the screen below to select a data model.

Each SD data model returns results based on a different kind of record.

For example, when using the Patients data model, you can find patients who meet patient-level criteria, such as diagnosis, HM topic status, or demographics. Starting with the Referrals data model, you can find information regarding each referral recorded in EPIC.

It's important to know what data each model contains because that determines how you interpret the results. For example, suppose you use the Patients data model to search for patients who had an ED visit. The result is the number of patients who went to the ED at least once, not the total number of ED visits those patients had. In order to see each ED visit (and associated details) for a given patient, you should instead use the ED Encounters data model.
You can find more information on each SD data model by hovering over the info icon at right upper corner of each data model 'box'.
