You can choose to upload a video from your computer, from your webcam, or from Metacafe. See the glossary definition of Metacafe for more information on this site. Note that a video over 2GB can be imported if it has been uploaded to the web and has a public URL. In such cases, please contact SHANTI staff.
Upload a Video from Your Computer
- Open the Audio-Video homepage
- Find the "Add to Your Collections" section
- Find this section on the right below the "Create a Collection" section
- Choose a collection from the drop-down menu
The drop-down menu will close, and will show the name of the collection
- Click on Upload a Video
The "Create Video" page will open
- Click on Media
The "Media" section will unfold
- Click on Add Media
The "Add Media" dialogue box will appear
- Click on the Upload tab
The "Upload Video" screen will open
- Click on Browse
A dialogue box showing a list of the files on your computer will load
- Choose a file
- Click on Open
The dialogue box will close, and the file will appear in the "Upload Video" list
- Click on Upload
A dialogue box will open, showing a status bar for the upload; when it finishes, you will be returned to the "Upload Video" list, and the file's status will be listed as "Done"
- Click on Next
A window will load, allowing you to change the title of the media file and add tags
- Add at least a title
The video will not process without a title
- Click on Next
A status bar will appear, and when the file is uploaded the dialogue box will close
- Note that the video file is listed in the "Media" section of the "Create Video" page
- Click on the sections below "Media" to add more settings, such as rights, availability, technical metadata, and so on
- Click on Save
Record a Video from Your Webcam
- Open the Audio-Video homepage
- In the menu sidebar to the right, locate the "Add to Your Collections" section
- Click on the drop-down menu to choose a collection for the file
The drop-down menu will close, and will show the name of the collection
- Click on Upload a Video
The "Create Video" page will open
- Click on Media
The "Media" section will unfold
- Click on Add Media
The "Add Media" dialogue box will appear
- Click on the Webcam tab
The "Webcam" screen will open
- Click on the Select a Webcam drop-down menu
- Choose a webcam
A dialogue box will appear, asking for access to your webcam
- Click on Allow
The dialogue box will close and the webcam will turn on
- Click on Record
The video will begin recording
- Click on Stop when you are finished recording
- Click on Next
A window will load, allowing you to change the title of the media file and add tags
- Add at least a title
The video will not process without a title
- Click on Next
A status bar will appear, and when the file is uploaded the dialogue box will close
The video file will be listed in the "Media" section of the "Create Video" page
- Click on the sections below "Media" to add more settings, such as rights, availability, technical metadata, and so on
- Click on Save
Upload a Video from Metacafe
- Open the Audio-Video homepage
- In the menu sidebar to the right, locate the "Add to Your Collections" section
- Click on the drop-down menu to choose a collection for the file
The drop-down menu will close, and will show the name of the collection
- Click on Upload a Video
The "Create Video" page will open
- Click on Media
The "Media" section will unfold
- Click on Add Media
The "Add Media" dialogue box will appear
- Click on the Metacafe tab
The "Metacafe" screen will open
- Type keywords into the search bar to find a video
- Click on Search
Results will appear below the search bar
- Click on your chosen video
A plus sign will appear on the video
- Click on Next
A window will load, allowing you to change the title of the media file and add tags
- Add at least a title
The video will not process without a title
- Click on Next
A status bar will appear, and when the file is uploaded the dialogue box will close
- Find your new video file in the "Media" section of the "Create Video" page
- Click on the sections below "Media" to add more settings, such as rights, availability, technical metadata, and so on
- Click on Save
