If an award has more than one budget period, a progress report is due 90 days prior to the start of each budget period after the first one. Funding for future budget periods is contingent on the availability of funds and progress on the award.

The DOE makes no commitment and assumes no obligation with this letter. Receipt of this letter does not authorize the applicant to commence with performance of the project: Pre-award costs, if permitted, are incurred at the applicant’s risk. Only an award document signed by the appropriate official obligates DOE to support a project.

The award negotiation process may take up to 80 days, but is frequently accomplished sooner. The prompt submission of all requested information and forms will permit a more rapid negotiation of an award.
