It is possible to create a new entry in Mediabase without uploading media. This is essential to the THL media creation workflow, which requires editors to include a Mediabase ID in their video title cards. The following procedure outlines how to create a new Mediabase entry without adding audio or video media:

  1. Login to Mediabase
  2. Click on “Collections”
  3. Select the collection in which you want to create the new title entry
  4. On the right-hand menu bar, select “Upload a Video”
  5. Expand the “Title & Description” section by clicking on it
  6. Enter a title for your entry. This need not be the final title of the media, but it should be related
  7. Fill out any other catalog fields you can
  8. Choose “Private” under visibility to keep the media-less entry hidden from the public
  9. Click “Save”

The new entry will be added to the collection and will appear only in “My Media” in the “My Stuff” section. If you are creating the media for distribution on THL, please follow the procedure for creating titles and credits here, which explains how to use the Mediabase ID in your title slates.
