  1. Go to https://mandala.shanti.virginia.edu/subjects
  2. Click the search icon
    • Find this button below the main menu in the top right corner of the page
    • The Search window will expand
  3. Type a subject into the "Search" field
  4. To filter your search, click Advanced
    • A drop-down menu of search filters will expand
    1. Choose the filters you want to use
    • You can select as many options as you want from the "Show only results containing" and "Show only feature types" menus
  5. Click Enter
    • Find this button to the right of the search field
    • A list of subjects that fit your search criteria will appear at the bottom of the window
  6. To view the search results in a hierarchy, click the "Tree" tab
    • Note that you can browse the tree results without entering a search query. Learn more at Browse Subjects.
    1. Click + to expand a search result
    2. Click - to collapse a search result
  7. To view the search results in a list format, click the "List" tab
    1. Click the scroll bar buttons to browse the list results
  8. Click one of the search results
    • The Knowledge Maps Overview page will appear
