New GSuite: View only
I created a new doc in the GSuite that I need to edit! What do I do?
You should be able to download the file, even if you can't edit it. Download the file, then re-upload it into the old GSuite. Please download instead of copying and pasting. Downloading preserves metadata.
We're working on a solution that makes preserving edits between the new GSuite and old Google Drive files as seamless as possible. Stay tuned.
Why are we migrating to GSuite?
The benefits of GSuite might not be immediately apparent in the short-term. In the long-term, however, GSuite solves a lot of issues for CSC. GSuite makes it easier to deal with changing ownership and permissions when people leave. If we want to do something with a file, we'll no longer be blocked if the owner is no longer at the organization. It also makes it easier to make sure the right people can access the right files they need.
