Connecting the IVC to the generator power outlets

Follow these steps at least 20 minutes before the power outage

Pre-requests

  • The backup power cords were routed to the NM3 and near to the slow controls rack
  • The generator is placed outside the NM4 (Near to the gHe tank door)

Steps to follow

  • Turn on the generator and wait for a few minutes until it stabilized
  • Check the generator outlet voltage using a multimeter and confirm it is ~120 V
  • Go to the slow controls rack and record the IVC vacuum level.
  • Unplug the power cord of the DCU 600 from its backside and connect it to the generator power outlet.
    * Note : Do not press any button on the DCU 600. Just unplug the power cord and connect it with a new power cord which is connected to the generator outlet.
  • Check the Turbo frequency from the DCU 600. It should be going up or stay at the maximum 600 Hz
  • Check the vacuum level of the IVC and confirm it is stable. If it is not stable and going up, something is wrong and check the status of DCU 600.
